It's bitter sweet to post my last reminder for the premier of tonight's episode. It was such a blast, especially working on this episode and I'm going to miss the mad rush to finish filming and editing everything. But definitely check it out at midnight tonight. It will not disappoint! It's a fantastic epic ending to a wonderful season.
This is a new song by Benj & Justin that they wrote on spec for a teen high school musical type movie. It's totally fun. They said before the song, picture like Hannah Montana singing it or something. Performing it is the divine Miss Natalie Weiss.
For any die hard Battery's Down fans, this song was used in a scene of the 3rd episode, "Roller Coaster Highway" as the song Benj & Justin were working on. I totally didn't make the connection until like a week later.
Okay, this is a very campy post but for real, Vanessa Ray seriously has the best headshot I have ever seen. And this is just one of the 40 top favorites that all look UNREAL! AND this is completely untouched. Such a joke. Literally, I can't wait for her to go into her next audition because she is literally going to be hired before she even sings when they see this.
Gavin Creel probably has my favorite guy voice in musical theatre. He hauntingly performs "Do You Remember?" one of Benj & Justin's recently written songs from an even more recently abandoned project about Peter Pan. It's kind of a bummer they're not working on it anymore because the two songs from it in this concert were both wonderful. Ah well, I'm sure they'll turn into college MT standards anyway.
This was recorded at Benj & Justin's Zipper concert at the NYMF last week.
Vanessa Ray sings "Perfect" by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul in THE GIRLY SHOW. This performance is absolutely stunning. She is one of the most vulerable actresses I've ever seen and she brings such raw hurt to this incredibly written song.
Don't be fooled, these aren't screen caps from that new AMERICAN TEEN movie. It's proof that there will finally be a full length AMAZING Andrew's Blog episode posted tonight. You guys are in for a serious treat.
The silver-voiced Jessica Hershberg sings "I Slept With Someone Who Handled Kurt Cobain's Intervention" from HIGH FIDELITY by Tom Kitt & Amanda Green. I've taken a poll and she is currently ranked as the number one girl of anyone on the boards that people want to marry the most after seeing her perform. It's true.
Every so often a performance comes along that forever changes the way you'll ever be able to look at a song. Dudes, this is one of those performances. Whatever you thought you thought about this old chestnut, you were wrong. Susanne Layton performs a brilliant, fresh interpretation of "Taylor the Latte Boy" by Marcy Heissler/Zina Goldrich that had me peeing in my seat.
Hey guys, here's the first of the new GIRLY SHOW videos!!! It's finally that time of year to get totally obsessed with a whole new crop of fierce lady performers and fantastic songs by some new composers. First up to bat is Dana Steingold and Natalie Weiss singing "Poor Little Patty" by Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen. These girls are ridonkulous and they learned this song in like 48 hours!!! More vids to come. The tape got kind of effed up at the beginning so we're trying to rescue as many vids as possible and these are in no kind of order. I'll try to post a new one everyday.

Hey bloggers, as some of you know, PEREZ HILTON SAVES THE UNIVERSE (Or At Least The Greater Los Angeles Area) not only won Best Musical in the 2008 Fringe Festival Awards, but it got asked to be a part of the Fringe Encores series. So if you missed the SOLD-OUT run in August, you can catch it again in September. Butttttt, it also means that we spent all of the money on the first production and need to have a major fundraiser so we can produce the extension. So mark it in your calendars..
This Sunday, September 7th at BAR NINE 807 9th Avenue (Between 53rd and 54th) Starting at 8pm
We're having a huge fundraiser bar bash that is going to be too much fun! $5 entry gets you and your guests discounted drinks all night: $3 domestic beers, $4 imported beers, $4-$5 mixed drinks! That's half price boozing! Wow, what a good deal!
Also, we will be having a live auction with some incredibly exciting items including a cameo in our final performance! And SOMEHOW I agreed to let them auction off a date with ME. AHHHHHHH!!! So basically I REALLY need you guys to come so I don't get totally embarrassed and end up getting sold for $5 to Vanessa who I'm paying to pity bid on me in case of emergency. Yeah, so definitely come. And let's go on a date. It'll be so fun:)
I just found a video on youtube from this year's Dance Workshop at U of Michigan. It's so weird that half of these kids I didn't even go to school with. AhhH!! I feel old. But anyway, this number's adorable. It's choreographed by senior, Cary Tedder, to the song "Be My Yoko Ono" by the Barenaked Ladies. Also, random bit of trivia: the boy in yellow, Yurel Echezarreta, who was a freshman at the time, is taking a year off to be in the Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY. Ridiculous!!!
Hey guys! So after a rough 24 hours trying to actually get this episode to upload, I'm happy to report that both parts are now up and running! I hope you guys enjoy this episode. We're really proud of it!
This video is brought to you by our super fan awesome friends Jeff & Rae from Canada. This has got to go down as the most random, silly, hilarious, confusing, campy video I've seen in a long time. Keep making vids guys! You're hilarious.
