Yes! Oh, GOD Yes!

Thank you Dana Steingold for this amazingly rich tip!
This is a blog entirely devoted to hilarious production shots from local and college productions of shows. It's accompanied by hilarious commentary and drinking games associated with the pictures. Here's an example.

Take a shot of Ouzo if there's an overtly homosexual actor in an aggressively heterosexual situation.

Take a shot of Rum if a wacky Screwball Lady's facial expression seems to say, "Get a load of THIS guy!"

Take a shot of Southern Comfort if there's Equity leads in the foreground somehow oblivious to some minor character emoting real hard at them... while standing only three feet behind them.

"Why-oh-why do I love an amateur publicity shot from an undergrad production, or a regional theatre, or a high school play?
It's got to be in the faces. Everyone's pushing sincerity real hard-- you have to be, 110%-- everyone's hitting a peak while standing frozen in hyper "stagey" ways to fit in frame, forced into melodrama, posing in ways never seen in the show."

So freaking cool!

Lin Manuel's new project (a hip-hop concept album about the life and death of Alexander Hamilton) made its debut at, oh ya know, THE WHITE HOUSE! First of all, I'm so excited to see what comes out of this. That verse he's spitting is all kinds of hot! Secondly, Michelle Obama is snapping along and her husband gave you a standing ovation! I mean, I'm pretty sure I could die happy!!

Andrew's Blog Playlist of the Month: October

Time for my big fall playlist! Autumn is absolutely my favorite season in New York and being a couple thousand miles away, I've used these songs get me in the spirit of the big northern season change.
There's something about music that connects me to random (at the time seemingly inconsequential) moments in my life. When I hear some of these tunes, I have very vivid memories of last fall. For instance, when I hear track 2, "Second Chance," I always think of waiting for the A train on the morning of Halloween. Or Bon Iver's "Skinny Love" always makes me think of walking around the west village with my iPod and a travel mug of cider. So here's a collection of the new tunes I'm digging this fall, as well as some old one's that really get me into the mood of the changing of the seasons.

"Never Forget You" -- Noisettes
"Second Chance" -- Liam Finn
"Cool Yourself" -- Thao
"Lust for Life" -- GIRLS
"Blow Away" -- A Fine Frenzy
"Pain Song" -- It's a Musical
"A-Punk" -- Vampire Weekend
"Psalms 40:2" -- The Mountain Goats
"Skinny Love" -- Bon Iver
"Heartbeats" -- Jose Gonzalez
"I Knew" -- Lightning Dust
"Empire State of Mind" -- Jay-Z (feat. Alica Keys)
"Dominos" -- The Big Pink
"Smoke in Your Disguise" -- New Roman Times
"The Ruminant Band" -- Fruit Bats
"More Stars Than There Are In Heaven" -- Yo La Tengo

"Some Kinda Time" from DOGFIGHT

The opening number from Benj & Justin's new musical DOGFIGHT. It is so wonderful hearing how much they've matured musically in just a couple years. If the rest of the musical sounds this good, they've got a hell of a show on their hands. DOGFIGHT was also recently commissioned by Lincoln Center. Pretty freaking cool!
